Names are weird. For now, call me anything you like. You might still see A or Knives bounce around places, from former names & usernames. Early 30s, they/them or it/its, queer, American.

Hi, I've been really bad at existing here (and most other places for a while now), but I'm alive.

Having a rough go of it at the moment for a lot of reasons, but I don't have the brainpower to talk much about it tonight. Depression is kind of kicking my ass badly this month; I have therapy next week, and I'm hoping I can navigate my way out of it with a little help. But I am here and surviving and hope all of you have been too. <3

All right, the time has come -- let me tell you about Oxventure Presents: Blades In the Dark, a closed actual play canon, my obsession for over a year now, and my favorite criminal found family of all time so far.

( Much rambling below! )

Hi, I'm still kicking. I'm gonna be doing Snowflake, hopefully without trailing off halfway through this year, and I think I'm gonna do the Fannish Fifty thing, and we'll see if those get me sticking around here for a while.

Let's play some catch-up in the meantime:

I am super behind and super tired this week due to a combo of house stuff and body stuff. I would so like to be doing other things, but I barely have the focus right now to get work done. :/

My will to make myself do things is nearly nil this week. I've managed to drag myself along to get ahead on work, but I have exchange fic I'm not writing, original fiction ideas I'm not poking, a fully beta'd fic I'm not posting, things I wanted to watch I'm not watching, and I still haven't moved out of the bedroom back to the table. Basically all I've done is work, play stupid internet games sometimes, and stare at youtube.

On the subject of youtube, [personal profile] magistrate mentioned Blood on the Clocktower a little bit ago; I've been meaning to watch a playthrough of it for a while, because a favorite channel of mine did one. Unfortunately, theirs has pretty bad audio, but I've been going back and forth between the No Rolls Barred and the official BotC youtube channel's games for the last week or so. It is fascinating, almost too complex for me to watch more than an episode or two a day without my brain melting, and I feel like I have things to say about it, but braining for actual words is leaving me rapidly.

Other than that it's just. Oxventure rewatches and cuddling my cat a lot while I work. Which, you know, life could be worse than that, but I would like enough energy to do something else.

I haven't much to say because my life is still pretty boring, so in lieu of an entry with real information, some recent overall positives:

  • Now that Fall Guys is free, my brother let me use his Switch to download it and I've been playing it when I need breaks from work. It took me like six days to manage a crown but I did it! It's been a nice way to zone out now and again; it's been a while since I've had a game to get into that wasn't all story and thinking heavy, and most of them have also had an ending instead of being play-forever things. It's good to know it'll be there when I get bored.

  • Though on the narrative games, I've been playing through the Miles Morales Spider-Man game (not the original, because I found that more difficult. XD but I'm watching a weekly Let's Play of it right now, so the timing worked out!) as well. I'm currently stalling the final mission to try and do all the side-things.

  • We made space in the garage for the chest freezer we bought a while ago but were failing to take time to make space for, so now the living room looks less crowded, we were able to go to the butcher and get a whole bunch of meat, and we can make some big meals and freeze some, which will mean easy food that is also, like, filling and tastes good!

  • This vid of Michael Westen making "why is this my life" faces for over two minutes that is currently at the top of my reading list is just really entertaining to me.

  • I am fully off probation in work again, which means if I have a slow start to my week, like I have this week, I don't have to panic about cramming the rest in.

  • For the first time... possibly ever in my roughly 19 years of fandom, I actually wrote and finished a fic that clocked in over 10k. And I'm really happy with it, too. It is currently sitting with my beta. I will probably put it up here when it goes up despite the fact that I don't think anyone around here is in the Oxventure fandom although like if you're LOOKING for a new fandom I AM willing to try and sell you on it, I mean, there's a lot of room, it's pretty small just because I am so pleased by this fact.

Went out with my brothers and saw Thor: Love and Thunder! I have not seen a movie in theaters since the Mamma Mia sequel, it was nice. Local theater is extremely understaffed (they sent us to the wrong theater first and only came to get us in time to catch the very last preview before the movie, and a light got left on for the first half of the film) but also was extremely empty (there were maybe 15 other people in the entire room), so I'll take it.

Non-spoilery unless you super avoided even the barest summaries: I went into this for Jane Foster and with Jane Foster, I am so satisfied. Good movie overall, though. Goddammit Marvel, you got me again, and now I'm reconsidering the occasional urge I get to do a rewatch/catch-up marathon.

( More spoiler-y thoughts. )

So yeah -- glad I went out to watch this one properly, did not feel like the movies I've missed were a problem, don't feel like I'm catapulting 100% back into Marvel fannishness (Jane Foster fannishness yes, MCU overall not so much) but may end up getting dragged back in again at some point, who knows. Blades comes back on the 15th, that'll probably take up all my attention and drag me away again even if I do. XD

Flip the switch and let the cauldron bubble Hit the post and let the journal open? Something like that, I guess. XD

I don't have a lot to say after having posted a lengthy update recently, and I haven't done any friend memes or anything that require a new intro lately, but I wanted to actually post instead of having this sit empty. So instead I'm gonna mention something I actually forgot last time! My brother got himself a new computer, so his old desktop migrated to the living room for everyone to use. Other brother broke his laptop and has been using it a lot so my time on it is limited, but before that I did something I have been wanting to (again, technically) for years -- I made a vid!

I have no room to do podfic cause there is no privacy in this house, and I don't know when I'll get back to vids because the computer has kind of been stolen, but I am happy I finally got a thing done. It could probably use more polish, and I might have to switch software if I do it again because it was pretty crashy. But it's a thing!

If you're interested in peeking, it is a Steve/Peggy MCU vid to the The Wombat's Kill the Director, and I don't feel like playing with embeds, so I will just link to the AO3 for it.
