thestoryinside

If you're anything like us, you'll no doubt have a mountain of books that you just never get around to reading. Well, that's where [community profile] thestoryinside comes in - have someone choose your book for you!

The process is simple: join the community, and each month sign up to be partnered with a buddy, who will then choose a book from your 'to read' list. At the end of each month there will be a community post to discuss your thoughts on the book(s) you read!

However, we're putting a twist on the traditional 'pick for me' routine and each month we'll vote on what genre of book we'll be reading; now, of course this is open to personal interpretation, for example, if the genre is horror and you're not a big fan, you could go for a Goosebumps book, or even Twilight. There will be an opportunity in each voting post to ask any questions you might have.

Lilith Faire: Day 1

Hello, everyone, and welcome to our annual Lilith Faire challenge!

Lilith Faire begins today, Monday, August 18th, and runs through Monday, August 25th. Every day, I will post links to three songs by female or nonbinary artists. Write a story based on one of those songs. You may write three stories every day, if all three songs catch your fancy or spark something. One to 500 words will get you one novelty bead, and so on for each additional 500 words. There may also be special bonus novelty beads for completing all three stories each day and for completing all stories.

Stories are due one week after the songs are posted, from whatever the timestamp on the post is. I'll try to get them up as close to midnight EST as possible.

Any questions? Ask them here!

Today's songs:

Main Stage: Criminal, Fiona Apple
Second Stage: Most Girls, Hailee Steinfeld
Village Stage: Teach Me to Be Bad, Thea Gilmore

Maybe no one understands smallness better than a child. Maybe no one is more invested in scale. Certainly my friend was old enough to grapple with what is and what isn't. We start early on the project of what is fleeting and what will stay.

Community Recs Post!

Every Thursday, we have a community post, just like this one, where you can drop a rec or five in the comments.

This works great if you only have one rec and don't want to make a whole post for it, or if you don't have a DW account, or if you're shy. ;)

(But don't forget: you can deffo make posts of your own seven days a week. ;D!)

So what cool podfics/fancrafts/fanvids/fics/fanart/other kinds of fanworks have we discovered this week? Drop it in the comments below. Anon comment is enabled.

BTW, AI fanworks are not eligible for reccing at recthething. If you aware that a fanwork is AI-generated, please do not rec it here.

Outside was the beach, somewhere between the darkness and the light, and nothing was moving, neither in the air nor on the land nor on the water. Even the white waves rolling in to the sands seemed to me to be motionless.

Round 153 Dates

And...it's a tie between ticky box and ticky box! What a close race that was! As for dates, it looks like more people are available 22-24 August, so that's what we'll do! I'll check in with the Chart of Temporal Mysteries closer to the time.
